The External Sales Consultant will be responsible for growing the company’s book of business across the Gauteng region, with a primary focus on the legal and medico-legal market. The role involves prospecting and visiting attorneys, law firms and medico-legal professionals within the personal injury and Road Accident Fund (RAF) industry, presenting the client portal and report offering, and building long-term client relationships. The successful candidate will manage the full sales cycle from identifying new opportunities and onboarding clients through to account retention and pipeline reporting. In addition to sales, the role carries responsibility for client administration, marketing support and collaboration with internal technical teams. The position is field-based across Gauteng and reports to the Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
External Sales & Business Development
- Identify and win new business opportunities across the Gauteng region, with a focus on the legal (attorneys) and medico-legal sectors.
- Conduct face-to-face client visits, product demonstrations, presentations and proposals.
- Respond to inbound enquiries from prospective clients, clearly articulating the company’s capabilities and value proposition.
- Properly qualify new clients and actively lead the onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition from awareness to active client status.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline, reporting on opportunities and forecasts.
- Attend conferences, industry events and networking functions relevant to the Gauteng market.
Account Management & Client Retention
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients via email, phone and in-person visits.
- Develop a deep understanding of each client’s ongoing challenges and opportunities; set targets and monitor outcomes.
- Develop and implement a client retention strategy in collaboration with management.
- Transition key clients to signed partnership agreements.
- Facilitate interaction between clients and the technical team, including events, training and relationship-building.
- Contact clients to inform them of new developments in company products and services.
- Manage key account portfolios and encourage and motivate fellow team members.
Sales Support, Marketing & Reporting
- Capture all client activities and interactions on the internal CRM system.
- Conduct welcome calls for newly onboarded clients and follow up on outstanding payments and supporting documents.
- Support marketing engagement, brand-building and competitor tracking in the Gauteng market.
- Prepare and present quarterly sales reports covering key activities, learnings and forward plans.
- Work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders to ensure client expectations are set and met.
- Travel to RAF branches and client offices across Gauteng when required.

Qualifications
- 3–5 years’ B2B external sales experience (professional or financial services preferred).
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Own reliable vehicle and valid South African driver’s licence (essential).
- Proficiency in one or more African languages — Zulu, Sotho, Tswana, Venda, Tsonga or Xhosa (non-negotiable for this territory). English required. Afrikaans advantageous.
- Probation period: 6 months from commencement date.
Business Skills / Experience
- Comfortable with CRM systems and digital tools.
- Ability to prepare and deliver tailored presentations and sales proposals.
- Strong written communication skills — comfortable corresponding with attorneys, suppliers and third parties.
- Able to develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and report on opportunities and forecasts.
- Able to manage client invoicing, statements and supporting document submissions.
Industry Skills / Experience
- Exposure to the legal or medico-legal sector is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of the legal (attorneys) and medico-legal sectors in the Gauteng market beneficial.
- Familiarity with the RAF (Road Accident Fund) environment and related engagements advantageous.
- No actuarial background required — full product training will be provided.
